Chime Inoperative At All Times
- Ensure battery is fully charged. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC) located under left side of instrument panel. Select BODY CONTROLLER on scan tool. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE, go to BATTERY POWER TO MODULE DISCONNECT; IGNITION VOLTAGE TOO LOW; NO RESPONSE FROM BCM (BAT PWR DISCON'D); BATTERY POWER TO MODULE under COMMUNICATIONS. If scan tool displays CCD BUS FAILURE, go to appropriate bus failure procedure under COMMUNICATIONS . If neither message is displayed, go to next step.
- Select MODULE DISPLAY on scan tool. Verify that country indicated is US. If country code is US, go to next step. If country code is not US, select MISCELLANEOUS from SELECT FUNCTION screen on scan tool. Select CHANGE COUNTRY CODE from menu. Follow on-screen instructions to change country code. Return to MODULE DISPLAY screen and verify country code is US. Go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, activate CHIME TEST. If chime sounds, go to next step. If chime does not sound, replace Body Control Module (BCM). See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Using scan tool, stop chime test. Ensure left front seat belt is unfasten and retracted fully. Using scan tool, read seat belt switch status. If SEAT BELT: CLOSED is indicated, go to next step. If SEAT BELT: CLOSED is not indicated, go to CHIME INOPERATIVE WITH SEAT BELT UNFASTENED .
- Using scan tool, stop chime test. Using scan tool, read key-in ignition switch status. If KEY-IN IGN: CLOSED is indicated, go to next step. If KEY-IN IGN: CLOSED is not indicated, go to CHIME INOPERATIVE WITH KEY IN IGNITION .
- Turn park lights on. Using scan tool, read parking light status. If PARK LAMPS: ON is indicated, go to next step. If PARK LAMPS: ON is not indicated, go to CHIME INOPERATIVE WITH EXTERIOR LIGHTS ON .
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
