Test NTC-29: Power Steering Pressure (PSP) Switch System

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PSP switch 1-pin connector. PSP switch is located on power steering pump. Start engine and allow it to idle. Check for continuity between PSP switch terminal and ground. When steering wheel is stationary, continuity should not exist. When steering wheel is turned, continuity should exist. If continuity is as specified, go to next step. If continuity is not as specified, replace PSP switch.
  2. Turn engine off. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and Blue/Yellow wire at PSP switch harness connector. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, inspect PCM harness connector A-78 for damaged pins, corrosion and loose terminals. See Figure. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, replace PCM.
  3. Inspect PSP switch connector for damaged pin, corrosion or loose terminal. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, replace PCM.
