Preliminary Inspection

Transaxle malfunctions may be caused by poor engine performance, improper adjustments, hydraulic malfunctions, mechanical malfunctions or electronic malfunctions. Always begin by checking fluid level, fluid condition and shift linkage or cable adjustment. Perform road test to determine if problem has been corrected. If problem is still present, several tests must be performed on transaxle. See PERFORMANCE TESTS  .

CAUTION: Before attempting any repair on electronic transaxle, always check for stored DTCs. See CHRYSLER 42LE ELECTRONIC CONTROLS article.
