Installation (Left Forward Control Arm)

CAUTION: Bolts attaching forward control arms must be installed with head of bolt facing forward to prevent damage to fuel tank and/or fuel tubes. Also, left rear control arm attaching bolt to crossmember must be installed with head of bolt facing rearward to prevent possible damge to fuel filler tube.
NOTE: Forward control arm attachment bolts should be installed with head of bolt facing forward. Rear control arm attachment bolts should be installed with head of bolt facing rearward.
  1. Attach left forward control arm to crossmember. Install control arm to crossmember bolt. Install attaching nut, but DO NOT fully tighten at this time.
CAUTION: Tightening control arm attaching bolt at this point will cause bushing to contort when vehicle is at curb riding height, thus contributing to premature failure of lateral link bushings.
  2. To complete installation, reverse left forward control arm removal procedure, tightening nuts and bolts to specification.
  3. When installing control arm on spindle, DO NOT fully tighten attaching bolt and nut.
  4. Install rear wheels and tighten stud nuts in proper sequence until torqued to half specification. Repeat tightening sequence to full specified torque.
  5. Lower vehicle to ground. Tighten control arm to crossmember attaching bolt to specification. Tighten lateral arm to spindle attaching bolt to specification
