HVAC System - Manual: Description

WARNING: To avoid injury from accidental air bag deployment, read and carefully follow all SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM procedures in AIR BAG SYSTEM SAFETY article in GENERAL SERVICING.

The manual A/C-heater system uses 3 rotary switches to control A/C-heater functions. The electric actuators control temperature (blend air) door, mode door and outside/recirculated air door. Air is circulated through 5 different front outlets and one rear outlet.

When A/C switch is on, a signal is sent to Body Control Module (BCM). The BCM drives and monitors control door positions based on information received from other vehicle systems, sensors and switches. BCM requests A/C operation from Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Response is based on control knob positions and evaporator temperature.
