Starter Fails To Engage

if starter fails to engage check the following:
- Battery Discharged Or Faulty: Charge battery or replace if necessary.
- Starting Circuit Wiring Faulty: Test circuit or replace if necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Starter Relay Faulty: Test and replace relay if necessary. See STARTER RELAY under TESTING.
- Ignition Switch Faulty: Test switch or replace if necessary.
- Park/Neutral Position Switch (Auto Trans) Faulty Or Mis-Adjusted: Test or replace switch if necessary.
- Clutch Interlock Switch (Man Trans) Faulty: Test or replace switch if necessary.
- Starter Solenoid Faulty: Test or replace starter assembly if necessary. See STARTER SOLENOID under TESTING.
- Starter Assembly Faulty: Check components, if check is ok, replace starter assembly.
- Faulty Teeth On Ring Gear: Inspect teeth, rotate flywheel 360°, replace if damaged.
- PCM Double Start Override Output Failure: Repair open circuit, if ok PCM may be defective.
