Removal & Installation: Radiator: Removal
WARNING:
DO NOT remove cylinder block plug or the radiator draincock with the system hot and under pressure because serious burns from coolant can occur.
NOTE:
It is not necessary to discharge air conditioning system when removing radiator.
- Disconnect negative cable from remote jumper terminal.
- Drain cooling system.
- Remove upper radiator crossmember.
- Remove hose clamps and hose from radiator.
- Disconnect transmission hoses from cooler and plug off.
- Disconnect engine oil cooler lines (if equipped).
- Disconnect the fan electrical connector.
- Remove fan module.
- Remove the A/C condenser attaching screws located at the front of the radiator.
- Remove fastener attaching transmission cooler line bracket to left side of radiator.
- Lift condenser upward, only enough to clear upper mounting clips; allow condenser to rest on lower radiator crossmember.
- Radiator can now be lifted free from engine compartment.
CAUTION:
Avoid bending the condenser inlet tube. Care should be taken NOT to damage radiator or condenser cooling fins or water tubes during removal.
