Piston & Rod Assembly

  1. Pistons are not interchangeable from bank to bank. Piston must be installed with letter "F" (front of engine) located above pin boss, pointing toward front of engine. To prevent engine damage, DO NOT damage fractured connecting rod and cap joint face surfaces.
  2. Connecting rod bearings are not interchangeable. Ensure rod and bearing cap are marked with cylinder number before removal. See Figure. If numerical marking does not exist on rod and bearing cap, mark rod and bearing cap as necessary. Note direction of connecting rod installation on piston before removal. Connecting rod must be installed in original direction. After removing piston from engine block, reinstall bearing cap onto connecting rod.
  3. Piston pin is full floating and is held in place by lock rings. Pistons and rods are weight matched for balance. DO NOT switch pistons with other rods.
