Removal & Disassembly

  1. Remove upper radiator crossmember. Disconnect fan assembly connector. Remove fan assembly. Remove drive belts. Hold crankshaft pulley and remove center bolt. Using a 3-jaw puller, remove crankshaft pulley.
  2. Remove timing chain cover. See Figure. Remove timing chain and crankshaft sprocket. See PRIMARY TIMING CHAIN & SPROCKETS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove oil pan. See OIL PAN  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove oil pick-up tube and pick-up tube "O" ring. See Fig 1. Remove oil pump bolts and oil pump.
  3. Remove oil pump retainer cap. Remove spring and pressure relief valve. See Fig 2. Remove oil pump cover and pump rotors. See Fig 3. Clean all parts thoroughly.
