Washer Inoperative

  1. If washer pump operates and fluid does not flow, check for blocked, loose, broken or misrouted washer hoses. Repair as necessary. If washer pump does not operate, check fuse No. 5 in junction block. If fuse is blown, repair short circuit and replace fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  2. Check for damaged or corroded terminals in wiper motor harness connector. Repair as necessary. If wiper motor connector is okay, check wiper/washer switch. See WIPER/WASHER SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace switch if necessary. If switch is okay, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect wiper/washer switch harness connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage at wiper/washer switch harness connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Blue wire). If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open Dark Blue wire.
  4. Connect wiper/washer switch harness connector. Disconnect washer pump harness connector. With washer switch depressed, measure voltage at washer pump harness connector Brown wire terminal. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open Brown wire.
  5. Check continuity between ground and washer pump harness connector Black wire terminal. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open Black wire.
  6. Using jumper wires, apply battery voltage to washer pump. If washer pump does not operate, replace washer pump. See WASHER PUMP MOTOR & SENSOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If washer pump operates, test is complete.
