Wiper Motor Runs When Ignition Switch Is On & Wiper Switch Is Turned Off

  1. Check wiper motor wiring harness for short between low speed motor feed terminal No. 2 (Brown/White wire), or high speed motor feed terminal No. 1 (Red/Yellow wire) and voltage. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If circuit is shorted to voltage, repair as necessary. If circuit is not shorted to voltage, go to next step.
  2. Check for faulty wiper intermittent ON/OFF or HIGH/LOW wiper relay. If either relay is faulty, replace appropriate relay. If relays are okay, go to next step.
  3. Check Dark Green wire between ON/OFF relay cavity "B" and HIGH/LOW wiper relay cavity "B" for short to voltage. If Dark Green wire is shorted to voltage, repair as necessary. If circuit is not shorted to voltage, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) White 12-pin harness connector C3. See Figure . Check continuity of Red/Violet wire between ground and BCM harness connector C3 terminal No. 4. If continuity exists, repair short to ground in Red/Violet wire. If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
  5. Check continuity of Red/Violet wire between BCM harness connector C3 terminal No. 4 and ON/OFF relay terminal "C". If continuity does not exist, repair open Red/Violet wire. If continuity exists, go to next step.
  6. Disconnect BCM Black 24-pin harness connector C2. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage at BCM harness connector C2 terminal No. 8 (Dark Green/Red wire). If voltage is zero volts, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - CONCORDE, INTREPID, LHS & 300M article. If voltage is 10-15 volts, check Dark Green/Red wire for short to voltage. If voltage is more than zero volts, but less than 10 volts, check wiper/washer switch and wiring. See WIPER/WASHER SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS.
