Bus Bias To High/Low Level
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see
BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
NOTE:
Ignition off during bus test is most common cause for this trouble code.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM), if equipped. TCM is located at left front corner of engine compartment, next to power distribution center. Turn ignition on. If scan tool does not display BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, replace TCM. If scan tool displays BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM). PCM is located next to air cleaner. Turn ignition on. If scan tool does not display BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, replace PCM. If scan tool displays BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster. Turn ignition on. If scan tool does not display BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, replace instrument cluster. If scan tool displays BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Smart Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM), if equipped. SKIM is located at ignition lock cylinder. Turn ignition on. If scan tool does not display BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, replace SKIM. If scan tool displays BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect anti-lock brake controller module. Anti-lock brake controller module is mounted on right inner fender panel of engine compartment. Turn ignition on. If scan tool does not display BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, replace anti-lock brake controller module. If scan tool displays BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off and wait 5 minutes. Disconnect Air Bag Control Module (ACM) 13-pin connector. ACM is located under center console. Turn ignition on. If scan tool does not display BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, replace ACM. If scan tool displays BUS BIAS TOO HIGH/LOW, go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) 14-pin and 22-pin connectors. BCM is connected to junction block. Turn ignition on. If scan tool displays BUS BIAS TOO HIGH, go to step 10 . If scan tool does not display BUS BIAS TOO HIGH, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between each CCD BUS (+) terminals on BCM 14-pin and 22-pin connectors and ground. See CCD BUS CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION table. If resistance is less than 17 k/ohms, repair appropriate circuit for partial short to ground. If resistance is 17 k/ohms or more, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between each CCD BUS (-) terminals on BCM 14-pin and 22-pin connectors and ground. See CCD BUS CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION table. If resistance is less than 17 k/ohms, repair appropriate circuit for partial short to ground. If resistance is 17 k/ohms or more, replace BCM.
- Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between each CCD BUS (+) terminals on BCM 14-pin and 22-pin connectors and ground. See CCD BUS CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION table. If voltage is more than 0.2 volt, repair appropriate circuit for partial short to voltage. If voltage is 0.2 volt or less, go to next step.
- Measure voltage between each CCD BUS (-) terminals on BCM 14-pin and 22-pin connectors and ground. See CCD BUS CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION table. If voltage is more than 0.2 volt, repair appropriate circuit for partial short to voltage. If voltage is 0.2 volt or less, replace BCM.
