EGR Valve

  1. Remove EGR valve. Check valve for sticking and carbon deposits. Clean valve with solvent as necessary. Connect a hand vacuum pump to EGR valve. Apply 20 in. Hg of vacuum. Vacuum should hold.
  2. Blow air through EGR valve passages. Air should flow when vacuum is applied. Air should not flow when vacuum is not applied. Replace EGR valve if it does not operate as specified.
