Skis Test 4A - VIN Mismatch

NOTE: Perform SKIS TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform, after each repair, TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Using scan tool, read VIN from Powertrain Control Module (PCM). If VIN displayed by scan tool does not match vehicle VIN, go to step 4). If VIN displayed by scan tool matches vehicle VIN, go to next step.
  2. Read VIN stored in Smart Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM) memory. If VIN stored by SKIM memory does not match vehicle VIN, replace smart key immobilizer module. Perform SKIM INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE  . If VIN stored by SKIM memory matches vehicle VIN, go to next step.
  3. Start and run engine for at least 90 seconds. Using scan tool, read SKIM DTCs. If VIN mismatch code is still present, replace smart key immobilizer module. Perform SKIM INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE  . If VIN mismatch code is no longer present, system is currently operating correctly.
  4. Using scan tool, re-program correct VIN into PCM memory. Erase SKIM DTCs. Verify DTC's are correctly erased. Start and run engine for at least 90 seconds. Using scan tool, read SKIM DTCs. If VIN mismatch code is still present, replace smart key immobilizer module. Perform SKIM INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE  . If VIN mismatch code is no longer present, system is currently operating correctly.
