Strut Assembly: Disassembly
- Position strut assembly in vise by clamping steering arm. Using paint, index strut housing, lower spring isolator, spring and upper strut mount for reassembly reference. Position Spring Compressor (C-4838) on spring, and compress spring until all load is removed from strut mount. Ensure at least 5 spring coils are captured within spring compressor jaws.
- Install Strut Rod Socket (L-4558 or L-4558A) on strut shaft nut. Using a 10-mm socket to hold strut shaft from turning, remove strut shaft nut. Remove upper strut mount. Remove cushion, seat/bearing and dust shield assembly. Remove coil spring with spring compressor attached. Remove lower spring isolator from lower spring seat.
