Test 11A: RECIRCULATION Door Output Shorted To Ground

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1998 Dodge Intrepid and 1998 Chrysler Concorde. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Perform TEST 1B: IDENTIFYING ATC SYSTEM BCM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES before proceeding with this test. DTC 42 will set if BCM detects recirculated air door drive output shorted to ground.
  1. Locate Body Control Module (BCM), attached to junction block, at left end of instrument panel. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM Gray 14-pin connector (C1). Ensure connector terminals are clean and tight. Repair as necessary.
  2. Turn ignition off. Close all doors and ensure courtesy lights are off. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and BCM connector C1 terminal No. 2 (Gray/Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5.0 ohms, repair short to ground in Gray/Dark Blue wire. If resistance is more than 5.0 ohms, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION TEST  .
