Test SC-1A - Checking Speed Control Operation

NOTE: Use this test only if no speed control trouble codes are set.
  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, monitor speed control switch inputs. While observing scan tool, press speed control ON switch. If scan tool displays speed control switch ON, go to next step. If scan tool does not display speed control switch on, go to TEST SC-2A .
  2. While observing scan tool, press SET switch several times. If scan tool displays PR and RE, go to next step. If scan tool does not display PR and RE, go to TEST SC-3A .
  3. While observing scan tool, press RESUME switch several times. If scan tool displays PR and RE, go to next step. If scan tool does not display PR and RE, replace SET/RESUME switch. Perform TEST SC-VER .
  4. While observing scan tool, press brake pedal several times. If scan tool displays PR and RE, go to next step. If scan tool does not display PR and RE, go to TEST SC-4A .
  5. While observing scan tool, move gear selector to Drive. If scan tool displays Park/Neutral (P/N) switch as D/R, go to next step. If scan tool does not display P/N switch as D/R, go to TEST SC-5A .
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect speed control servo connector. Inspect speed control servo connector for damaged or pushed out terminals. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST SC-VER . If wiring and connectors are okay, go to next step.
  7. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of ground circuit Black wire at speed control servo connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to TEST SC-1B . If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open ground circuit. Perform TEST SC-VER .
