Test VER-4A - Verification Procedure

  1. Inspect and ensure that all engine components are connected. If other trouble code(s) was previously present and has not yet been corrected, go to TEST TC-1A  . If Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has been changed and vehicle is equipped with Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS), turn ignition on then off at least 20 times to activate VTSS. If PCM has not been changed, using scan tool, erase trouble codes.
  2. Ensure no other cruise control system problems remain. Road test vehicle for no less than 5 minutes at a speed greater than 35 MPH. Turn cruise control ON/OFF switch to ON position. Depress and release SET switch. If cruise control engages, go to next step. If cruise control does not engage, repair is not complete. Check all related TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS and/or go to TEST TC-1A  .
  3. On vehicles with stalk switch, quickly depress and release SET switch. On vehicles with steering wheel switch, quickly depress and release RESUME/ACCEL switch. If cruise control increases by 2 MPH, go to next step. If cruise control does not increase by 2 MPH, repair is not complete. Check all related TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS and/or go to TEST TC-1A  .
  4. Using caution, depress and release brake pedal. If cruise control disengages, go to next step. If cruise control does not disengage, repair is not complete. Check all related TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS and/or go to TEST TC-1A  .
  5. Increase vehicle speed to more than 35 MPH. Depress RESUME/ACCEL switch. If cruise control resumes previously set speed, go to next step. If cruise control does not resume previously set speed, repair is not complete. Check all related TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS and/or go to TEST TC-1A  .
  6. Depress and hold SET switch. If vehicle decelerates, continue holding SET switch and go to next step. If vehicle does not decelerate, repair is not complete. Check all related TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS and/or go to TEST TC-1A  .
  7. Ensure vehicle speed is greater than 35 MPH and release SET switch. If vehicle adjusts and sets a new vehicle speed, go to next step. If vehicle does not adjust, repair is not complete. Check all related TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS and/or go to TEST TC-1A  .
  8. Turn cruise control ON/OFF switch to OFF position. If cruise control disengages, system is functioning properly and repair is complete. If cruise control does not disengage, repair is not complete. Check all related TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS and/or proceed to TEST TC-1A  .
