Intermittent Wheel Speed Sensor Circuits
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see wiring diagram.
- Inspect suspect Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS) connector for damage or looseness. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A. If WSS connections are okay, go to next step.
- Ensure WSS connector has proper clearance from moving objects. Inspect for evidence of chafing on WSS wiring harness. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A. If WSS connector is okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) 60-pin connector. Inspect, clean and repair connector as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A. If connector is okay, use an external ohmmeter to check resistance of CAB connector terminals of suspect WSS while assistant wiggles wiring harness. See Figure. If resistance is more than 2500 ohms at any time, repair open in appropriate wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is not more than 2500 ohms at any time, system is operating properly at this time. Perform TEST VER-1A.
