Headlight Doors - Automatic: Operation

The headlight system is controlled by a Body Control Module (BCM). The BCM, located in the right kick-panel under the instrument panel, receives input from the ignition switch, headlight switch and headlight dimmer switch. It controls time delay headlight system (if equipped). The BCM allows headlights to remain on for 60 seconds before automatically turning off lights and closing headlight doors when ignition and headlight switch are turned off.

The BCM also controls headlight doors when the passing lights are used. With headlights turned off, actuating headlight dimmer switch signals the BCM to open headlight doors. The operator then has 2 seconds to flash the bright lights before the BCM closes the headlight doors. Holding headlight dimmer switch in the engaged position will signal the BCM to keep headlight doors open until dimmer switch is released. Actuating headlight dimmer switch with parking lights on signals the BCM to open headlight doors and keep them open until headlights are turned off.
