NS-10 - Checking Injector Driver Circuits

  1. Connect DRB-II to engine harness connector. Disconnect all injectors. Put system in ATM Test Mode "02". Connect negative voltmeter lead to ground and touch positive voltmeter lead to Dark Green/Black wire in each injector connector. If there is no voltage at one or more of the connectors, repair Dark Green/Black wire for an open circuit to injector connector.

  2. If there is battery voltage at each connector, connect No. 1 injector and listen for a click. Disconnect No. 1 injector. Connect No. 2 injector and listen for a click. Disconnect No. 2 injector. Connect No. 3 injector and listen for a click. Disconnect No. 3 injector. Connect No. 4 injector and listen for a click.
  3. If any injector does not click, replace injector. Before replacing injector, check Tan and White wires to injectors for an open circuit. If No. 1 and No. 2 injectors do not click, go to next step. If injectors No. 3 and No. 4 do not click, go to step 6).
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 14-pin connector from SMEC. Connect ohmmeter to 14-pin connector cavity No. 9 and ground. If there is continuity, repair White wire to cavity No. 9 for a short to ground. If there is no continuity, connect ohmmeter to 14-pin connector cavity No. 9 and White wire of injector harness connectors No. 1 and No. 2.

  5. If there is continuity, replace SMEC for a defective power board. Before replacing SMEC, ensure terminal in 14-pin connector cavity No. 9 is not damaged causing a poor connection. If there is no continuity, repair White wire to cavity No. 9 for an open circuit to injector harness connector.
  6. With ignition off and 14-pin connector disconnected from SMEC, connect ohmmeter to 14-pin connector cavity No. 10 and ground. If there is continuity, repair Tan wire to connector cavity No. 10 for a short to ground. If there is no continuity, connect ohmmeter to 14-pin connector cavity No. 10 and Tan wire of injector connectors No. 3 and No. 4.

  7. If there is continuity, replace SMEC for a defective power board. Before replacing SMEC, ensure terminal in 14-pin connector cavity No. 10 is not damaged causing a poor connection. If there is no continuity, repair Tan wire to cavity No. 10 for an open circuit to injector harness connector.
