Dr-6 - Code 23 - Charge Temperature Sensor

  1. With DRB-II connected to diagnostic connector, disconnect charge temperature sensor connector. Put system in Sensor Test "03". Refer to ENTERING ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS  in this article. If display on tester reads 5 volts, go to next step. If display on tester reads zero volts, or zero volts and then increases, replace SMEC. Before replacing SMEC, ensure cavity No. 21 of 60-pin connector is not shorted to ground.

  2. With DRB-II connected and system in Sensor Test Mode "03", connect a jumper wire between Black/Red and Black/Light Blue wire terminals of charge temperature sensor harness connector. If display on tester reads zero volts, replace charge temperature sensor. If display on tester reads 5 volts, go to next step.
  3. Connect one end of a jumper wire to ground. Connect other end of wire to Black/Red wire terminal of charge temperature sensor connector. If display reads zero volts, repair Black/Light Blue wire of charge temperature sensor connector for an open circuit to wiring harness splice. If display on tester reads 5 volts, repair wire of charge temperature sensor connector for an open circuit to SMEC.
