Removal & Installation - A/T: Installation

NOTE: Engine may raise slightly when transmission assembly is removed. Disconnecting front exhaust pipe from catalytic converter can help when aligning transmission with engine.
  1. Inspect converter drive plate for distortion, cracks or damaged teeth. Replace if necessary. Ensure full engagement of torque converter into transmission front pump. Flush transmission cooler lines and oil cooler.
  2. Before bolting transmission to engine, realign index mark (made during removal) of torque converter with mark on drive plate and ensure that transmission mounting bolt holes align with engine block guide pins.
  3. Tighten transmission-to-engine bolts to 31-40 ft. lbs. (43-55 N.m). Reverse removal procedure to complete installation.
