Aspirator Valve

The air aspirator valve is a reed-type, one-way check valve. This valve is permanently fitted to a tube, which is connected to the primary exhaust catalyst. The other end is connected, via hoses, to the air cleaner. When exhaust negative pressure pulses are strong enough to create a vacuum in the exhaust system which can overcome reed tension, the valve opens, drawing fresh air into the tube assembly. This fresh air is then routed into the primary catalyst. In the primary catalyst, this fresh oxygenated air helps to further oxidize that part of the intake mixture which was not completely burned during combustion.
