Test Dr13 - Spark Advance Basic Ignition Timing
- Connect a tachometer and timing light to engine. It will be necessary to remove air cleaner to see timing marks. Start engine and run until normal operating temperature is reached. Disconnect and reconnect engine coolant sensor connector. The power loss light on the instrument panel must come on. Basic timing should be within 2 degrees of specification shown on underhood emission label. If basic timing is within specification, go to next step. If basic timing is not within specification, adjust basic timing following underhood emission label procedure. Go to next step.
- Turn engine off. Start engine. Power loss light should be off. Raise engine speed to 2000 RPM. Ignition timing on man. trans. should be 30-38 degrees BTDC, auto. trans. 37-45 degrees BTDC. If ignition timing is within specification, go to DR14. If ignition timing is not within specification, replace logic module.
