Cold DRIVEABILITY Test 1 - Heated Air Intake System
- Remove outside air duct from air cleaner. Remove hose on air cleaner housing that goes to heated air door vacuum diaphragm. Connect a vacuum pump to hose. Apply 15 in. Hg vacuum. Vacuum should hold at applied setting and heated air door should be closed to outside air. If vacuum holds but heated air door does not close, replace heated air door vacuum diaphragm.
- If vacuum does not hold, proceed to step 3). If vacuum holds and heated air door is in proper position, release vecuum. Heated air door should open to outside air. If heated air door does not open, replace heated air door vacuum diaphragm. If heated air door opens, proceed to step 4).
- Remove air cleaner cover. Check hose for proper connection to heated air door vacuum diaphragm. Check hose for damage. Reconnect, repair or replace hose as required.
- Remove both hoses to heated air sensor. Connect a vacuum pump to one nipple of air sensor. Hold finger on other on other air sensor nipple. Apply at least 15 in. Hg vacuum. Vacuum should build up to 15 in. Hg vacuum and then slowly bleed down with temperature less than 75°F (24°C). If vacuum does not build up, replace air sensor. If vacuum builds up, proceed to DRIVEABILITY TEST (COLD) NO. 2.
