Timer/Relay Test

  1. Remove switch from instrument panel with wiring still connected. Turn ignition on. Using DC voltmeter, check for voltage at terminals "B", "I" and "L". See Figure . Both "B" and "I" should have 10 to 14 volts present. Terminal "L" should indicate 0 volts.
  2. If "L" shows voltage, place switch in "OFF" position and allow knob to return to normal position. If voltage at "L" is still present or indicator lamp remains on, control switch/timer relay module should be replaced.
  3. Move switch to "ON" position. Voltage should be present at terminal "L" for about 10 minutes and indicator light should be on. If light is off or no voltage is present at terminal "L", replace the control switch/relay module.
