Thermostatically Controlled Electric Fans: Testing

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 16 other vehicles, including the 1984 Plymouth Turismo, 1984 Plymouth Reliant, 1984 Plymouth Horizon, 1984 Plymouth Gran Fury, and 1984 Dodge Rampage. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

If fan is not operating properly, disconnect fan motor wire connector and connect it with 14 gauge wire to a good 12-volt battery. If fan runs, motor is all right, indicating car battery, radiator fan switch, coolant relay, or A/C relay may be defective. If fan motor does not run when connected directly to a good battery, replace fan motor.
