Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  2. Remove the front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

    Front Compartment Air Deflector Bolt (1) - Remove [5x]

  4. Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Retainer (2) - Remove [2x]

    Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) - Remove

  6. Front Compartment Air Deflector Retainer (2) - Remove [2x]
  7. Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt (3) - Remove

    Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (3) - Remove

  9. Front Compartment Air Deflector Retainer (2) - Remove [2x]
  10. Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt (1) - Remove

    Front Compartment Air Deflector Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

  12. Front Compartment Air Deflector (2) - Remove
  13. Place match marks on the steering linkage inner tie rod nut and the steering linkage inner tie rod.

    Steering Linkage Inner Tie Rod Nut (1) - Loosen

  15. Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Nut (2) - Loosen

    CAUTION:

    Do not attempt to disconnect a steering linkage joint by driving a wedge between the joint and the attached part. Seal damage may result which will cause premature failure of the joint.

    NOTE:

    Some components not shown for graphic clarity.

    Using the CH-42188-B  Ball Joint Separator (1) separate the steering linkage outer tie rod (2) from the steering knuckle.

    Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Nut (1) - Remove

    Steering Gear Boot Outer Clamp (1) - Remove

  21. Steering Gear Boot Inner Clamp (3) - Remove and DISCARD
  22. Steering Gear Boot (2) - Remove
