Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF, disconnect the harness connectors at the appropriate B5 Wheel Speed Sensor and the harness connector at the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module, ignition ON.
- Test for less than 1 V between the appropriate K17 Electronic Brake Control Module harness connector terminals listed below and ground:
- B5LF Wheel Speed Sensor - Left Front - terminal 4 and terminal 5
- B5LR Wheel Speed Sensor - Left Rear - terminal 15 and terminal 16
- B5RF Wheel Speed Sensor - Right Front - terminal 10 and terminal 11
- B5RR Wheel Speed Sensor - Right Rear - terminal 28 and terminal 29
- If 1 V or greater
Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If less than 1 V
- Ignition OFF.
- Test for infinite resistance between the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module harness connector terminals listed below and ground:
- B5LF Wheel Speed Sensor - Left Front - terminal 4 and terminal 5
- B5LR Wheel Speed Sensor - Left Rear - terminal 15 and terminal 16
- B5RF Wheel Speed Sensor - Right Front - terminal 10 and terminal 11
- B5RR Wheel Speed Sensor - Right Rear - terminal 28 and terminal 29
- If less than infinite resistance
Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 Ω between the B5 Wheel Speed Sensor harness connector terminal 1 and the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module harness connector terminal listed below:
- B5LF Wheel Speed Sensor - Left Front - terminal 4
- B5LR Wheel Speed Sensor - Left Rear - terminal 15
- B5RF Wheel Speed Sensor - Right Front - terminal 10
- B5RR Wheel Speed Sensor - Right Rear - terminal 28
- If 2 Ω or greater
Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- Go to next step: If less than 2 Ω
- Test for less than 2 Ω between the B5 Wheel Speed Sensor harness connector terminal 2 and the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module harness connector terminal listed below:
- B5LF Wheel Speed Sensor - Left Front - terminal 5
- B5LR Wheel Speed Sensor - Left Rear - terminal 16
- B5RF Wheel Speed Sensor - Right Front - terminal 11
- B5RR Wheel Speed Sensor - Right Rear - terminal 29
- If 2 Ω or greater
Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- Go to next step: If less than 2 Ω
- Inspect the wheel speed sensor reluctor ring for foreign debris. Refer to: Wheel Speed Sensor Reluctor Ring Cleaning and Inspection
- Replace the B5 Wheel Speed Sensor.
- Verify the DTC does not set while operating the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC.
- If the DTC sets
Replace the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module.
- Go to next step: If the DTC does not set
- If the DTC sets
- All OK.
