Removal Procedure

WARNING:

If broken glass falls into the defroster outlets, it can be blown into the passenger compartment and cause personal injury.

WARNING:

When working with any type of glass or sheet metal with exposed or rough edges, wear approved safety glasses and gloves in order to reduce the chance of personal injury.

    Using the appropriate trim tool, remove the windshield wiper arm finish cap (1) from the windshield wiper arm (3).

    1. Windshield Wiper Arm Nut (2) - Remove
    2. Grasp the outer end of the windshield wiper arm (3) and gently rock the arm back and forth to remove it from the windshield wiper transmission pivot shaft.

    Apply two layers of masking tape around the top edge of the service part to prevent paint damage.

  3. Using a suitable plastic trim tool, carefully release the air inlet grille panel extension clips.
  4. Remove the air inlet grille panel extension (1) from the air inlet grille panel and upper front fender.

    Air inlet grill panel retainers (1) - Remove [ 8x ]

  6. Air Inlet Grille Panel (2) - Remove
    1. Disconnect the windshield washer nozzle hose from the windshield washer pump hose.
    2. Lift up the front edge of the air inlet grille panel, slide the grille panel forward from both hood hinges.

    Windshield Multifunction Sensor Mount Bracket Cover Insert (1) - Remove

    Using a suitable plastic trim tool, carefully pry downward on the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover (1) to release it from the windshield.

  9. Pull downward to remove the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover (1) from the windshield.

    Disconnect all electrical connectors.

  11. Inside Rearview Mirror Bolt (1) - Remove
  12. Inside Rearview Mirror (2) - Remove

    Disconnect the electrical connector.

  14. NOTE:

    Observe the mounting and location of the front view camera to ensure proper reinstallation.

  15. Release the retaining tabs and rotate the front view camera (1) downward.

    Slide the front view camera (1) rearward to release.

    Inside Air Moisture and Windshield Temperature Sensor (1) - Remove

  19. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    NOTE:

    Do NOT remove or service the sensor farm pins.

    Disconnect all electrical connectors.

  21. Release the front view driver information camera bracket (1) retaining tabs and slide the bracket upward to disengage the sensor farm pins.
  22. Gently pull the front view driver information camera bracket (1) away from the windshield.

    Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling

  24. Pull the windshield garnish molding rearwards to release the tether from the A pillar.
  25. Access the windshield garnish bolt (2) which is located on the backside of the windshield garnish molding (1) and secures the tether to the A pillar.
  26. Windshield Garnish Molding Bolt (2) - Remove
  27. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  28. Windshield Garnish Molding (1) - Remove
  29. Cover to protect the following parts from broken glass:
    • Upper Dash Pad
    • The defroster outlets and A/C outlets
    • The seats and carpeting
  30. { If equipped } Remove the lower windshield supports from the cowl panel.
  31. NOTE:

    Before cutting out a stationary window, apply a double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and the interior trim.

  32. { If equipped } Using the appropriate tool, carefully cut around the lace, start in the center working from side to side of the window to access the urethane adhesive bead.

    NOTE:

    Keep the cutting edge of the tool against the window.

    Use BO-24402-A  Glass Sealant Remover (1) to remove the window.

    • Leave a base of urethane on the pinchweld flange.
    • The only suitable lubrication is clear water.

    With the aid of an assistant, remove the windshield (1) and locating pin (2) from the vehicle.
