Removal Procedure

WARNING:

When working with any type of glass or sheet metal with exposed or rough edges, wear approved safety glasses and gloves in order to reduce the chance of personal injury.

WARNING:

If a window is cracked but still intact, crisscross the window with masking tape in order to reduce the risk of damage or personal injury.

NOTE:

Use a urethane adhesive systems which meet GM Specification GMW-15672.

  1. Windshield Multifunction Sensor Mount Bracket Cover - Remove - Windshield Multifunction Sensor Mount Bracket Cover Replacement
  2. NOTE:

    It is not necessary to remove the components from the bracket. Leave the components on the bracket.

  3. Remove the windshield bracket from the windshield.
  4. WARNING:

    If broken glass falls into the defroster outlets, it can be blown into the passenger compartment and cause personal injury.

  5. Cover to protect the following parts from broken glass:
    • Upper Dash Pad
    • The defroster outlets and A/C outlets
    • The seats and carpeting
  6. Apply a double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces.
  7. Remove both body side upper front appliques. Body Side Upper Front Applique Replacement

    Using a suitable tool, carefully cut the lace and urethane adhesive bead around the window (1).

    Remove the windshield (1) and locating pins (2) from the vehicle.

    • Leave a base of urethane on the pinchweld flange.
    • The only suitable lubrication is clear water.
  11. Transfer components as necessary.
