Removal Procedure

WARNING:

Refer to SIR Warning

  1. Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling

    Steering Wheel Airbag (1) - Remove - Steering Wheel Airbag Replacement

  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

    WARNING:

    When removing the Drivers Airbag (DAB), the airbag guide sleeves may get stuck in the steering wheel armature. Failure to remove the guide sleeves from the armature and properly reinstall them onto the DAB may result in damage or inoperable components related to airbag retention to the steering wheel. DAB retention failure during airbag deployment could cause injury.

    Ensure the airbag guide sleeves (1) are removed with the steering wheel airbag and not stuck in the steering wheel armature.

    Steering Wheel Bolt (1) - Remove

  6. Install the steering wheel bolt until 2 to 3 threads are engaged.
  7. Wiggle the steering wheel until the wheel disengages completely.
  8. Steering Wheel Bolt (1) - Remove
  9. Steering Wheel (2) - Remove
  10. Transfer components as necessary.
