Removal Procedure
- Turn the steering wheel 90 degrees to the left of the centered position.
Use a flat bladed plastic trim tool to separate the steering column upper trim cover (1) from the steering column lower trim cover along the left side of the trim covers.
- NOTE:
Failure to reposition the steering column upper trim cover locking tab into the recess on the steering column lower trim cover will cause interference between the upper trim cover and steering wheel while attempting to turn the steering wheel.
Before turning the steering wheel, reposition the steering column upper trim cover (1) so the locking tab (2) is resting inside the recess on the steering column lower trim cover.
- While holding the steering column upper trim cover (1) as directed in the previous step, turn the steering wheel 90 degrees to the right of the centered position.
Use a flat bladed plastic trim tool to separate the steering column upper trim cover (1) from the steering column lower trim cover along the right side of the trim covers.
- Carefully reposition the steering column upper trim cover (1) above the steering column until the underside of the trim cover is accessible.
Squeeze the retaining tabs on the steering column opening closeout and separate the steering column upper trim cover (1) from the closeout.
- NOTE:
The steering wheel will need to be rotated as necessary to remove the forward facing fasteners.
