Installation Procedure
Position the intermediate steering shaft (1) on the vehicle.
UNLOCK and turn the steering wheel so the intermediate steering shaft upper bolt (1) and intermediate steering shaft lower bolt (2) can be installed.
- Intermediate Steering Shaft Lower Bolt (2) - Install and tighten 50 N.m (37 lb ft)
- Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
- Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the component. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Intermediate Steering Shaft Upper Bolt (1) - Install and tighten 36 N.m (27 lb ft)
- Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
- Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the component. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Inspect the Cardan joint boot for proper positioning.
The boot MUST be pulled downwards to the original position, or such that the end of the boot is directly adjacent to the intermediate steering shaft lower bolt.
