Circuit/System Verification

Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
Verify DTC C0277, C0890 is not set.
- If DTC C0277, C0890 is set
  Refer to DTC C0277, C0890
- Go to next step: If the DTC is not set
Verify the following conditions do not exist: Brake Pedal Position Sensor-or-Brake Pedal = Binding or Sticking - The stop lamps, also known as brake lamps, are activated when the driver applies the vehicle's brakes.
- If a condition exists
  Repair or replace the components as necessary.
- Go to next step: If no condition exists
Operate the component: Brake Applied & Brake Pedal Not Applied
Verify the scan tool parameter: Brake Pedal Position Sensor = Active & Inactive
- If the component does not work as specified
  Refer to Symptoms - Lighting
- Go to next step: If the component works as specified
All OK.
