Circuit/System Testing

DTC C0545 00

  1. Ignition ON.
  2. Verify the scan tool Torque Sensor parameter changes when turning the steering wheel.
    • If the parameter does not change
    1. Verify that the X3 connector is installed properly at the K43 Power Steering Control Module.
    2. If the X3 connector is not installed properly, connect the X3 connector properly.
    3. Verify the DTC does not set.
      • If the DTC sets, replace the Steering Gear.
      • Go to next step: If the DTC does not set
    4. All OK.
    • Go to next step: If the parameter changes
  3. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B137 Power Steering Shaft Torque Sensor.
  4. Test for less than 35 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 4 and ground.
    • If 35 Ω or greater
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Test for less than 2 Ω in the ground circuit end to end.
      • If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 Ω, replace the Steering Gear.
    • Go to next step: If less than 35 Ω
  5. Ignition ON.
  6. Test for 4.8 - 5.2 V between the signal circuit terminal 3 and ground.
    • If less than 4.8 V
    1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X3 connector at the K43 Power Steering Control Module.
    2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit and ground.
      • If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If infinite resistance
    3. Test for less than 2 Ω in the signal circuit end to end.
      • If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 Ω, replace the Steering Gear.
    • If greater than 5.2 V
    1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X3 connector at the K43 Power Steering Control Module.
    2. Test for 0 V between the signal circuit and ground.
      • If greater than 0 V, repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
      • If 0 V, replace the K43 Power Steering Control Module.
    • Go to next step: If within 4.8 - 5.2 V
  7. Replace the Steering Gear.

DTC C0545 4B

  1. Ignition ON.
  2. Verify the scan tool Torque Sensor parameter changes when turning the steering wheel.
    • If the parameter does not change
    1. Program the K43 Power Steering Control Module.
    2. Verify the DTC does not set.
      • If the DTC sets, replace the Steering Gear.
      • Go to next step: If the DTC does not set
    3. All OK.
    • Go to next step: If the parameter changes
  3. All OK.
