Installation Procedure
Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Nut (1)@Catalytic Converter (2) - Loosen
Install a NEW gasket. (2)
- Pre install the NEW catalytic converter clamp (1) to the catalytic converter (3).
- NOTE:
A second technician is required.
Unsupport the powertrain unit (1) and push the powertrain unit (1) against driving direction to get access for the catalytic converter installation.
Catalytic Converter (3) - Install
Catalytic Converter Stud (2) - Install - Do NOT tighten. [2x]
- Transmission Mount Strut Bracket - Install
- CAUTION:
Catalytic Converter Stud (2) - Tighten [2x] 9N.m (80 lb in)
- Catalytic Converter Brace Nut (1) - Install - Do NOT tighten. [2x]
- Lower the vehicle.
Position the NEW catalytic converter clamp (1) and tighten to 6N.m (53 lb in)
- Raise the vehicle.
Catalytic Converter Brace Nut (1) - Tighten [2x] 22N.m (16 lb ft)
Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Nut (1) - Tighten 22N.m (16 lb ft)
- Lower the vehicle.
Catalytic Converter Clamp (1) - Tighten 25N.m (18 lb ft)
Catalytic Converter Heat Shield (1) - Install
Catalytic Converter Heat Shield Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] 9N.m (80 lb in)
Exhaust Temperature Sensor (1) - Install and tighten [2x] 45N.m (33 lb ft)
Turbocharger Heat Shield (2) - Install
- Turbocharger Heat Shield Nut (3) - Install and tighten 9N.m (80 lb in)
- Turbocharger Heat Shield Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [4x] 9N.m (80 lb in)
- NOTE:
Do NOT bend the cable sharply at the base of either the sensing unit or sensor ECU in the final mounting position.
Nitrogen Oxides Sensor (2) - Install and tighten 50N.m (37 lb ft)
- Raise the vehicle.
Exhaust Front Pipe Gasket (3) - Install NEW
- Exhaust Front Pipe (1)@Catalytic Converter (2) - Install
- Exhaust Front Pipe Nut (4) - Install and tighten [3x] 22N.m (16 lb ft)
Catalytic Converter Heat Shield Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] 9N.m (80 lb in)
- NOTE:
Mind the different hose diameters.
Install the 2 exhaust pressure differential sensor hoses (2) to the exhaust pressure differential sensor pipes (3).
- Clamp (1) - Install [2x]
- Front Compartment Insulator - Install - Front Compartment Insulator Replacement
- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- When the replacement is completed, use a scan tool to perform the appropriate reset functions. DPF Reset
Do not bend the exhaust flex pipe more than 10 degrees in any direction. Bending of more than 10 degrees or twisting in a range of ±0.5 degrees will damage the exhaust flex decoupler.
