Installation Procedure

NOTE:
- When installing the steering column, align the upper intermediate steering shaft with the steering column shaft while positioning the steering column in the vehicle.
- Ensure the match marks on steering column shaft and the intermediate steering shaft are aligned.
Position the steering column (1) in the vehicle.

CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .

Install the steering column nuts (1) and tighten in the sequence shown to 22 N.m (16 lb ft) .

Before continuing, ensure the upper intermediate steering shaft (2) is completely installed on the steering column shaft.
Before continuing, ensure the bearings in the intermediate steering shaft boots are positioned correctly and moving freely.
Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft Upper Bolt (1) - Install and tighten 30 N.m (22 lb ft)
1. Clean the threads of the bolt and mating threads with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
2. Apply thread locking adhesive to the bolt. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

Install fuse for the steering column lock control module.
