Component Testing

CAUTION:

Refer to Test Probe Caution .

NOTE:

To prevent an incorrect reading when testing the center coax terminal, use care not to ground the test probe on the outer housing/shield.

Coax Cable - Test

Verify the condition does not exist:
- Damaged component: Coax Cable
- Poor component electrical connections: Coax Cable
Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
Test for less than 5 ohms between the test points: Coax Cable Center & The other end of the circuit - Coax Cable Center
- If 5 ohms or greater
  Replace the component: Coax Cable
- Go to next step: If less than 5 ohms
Test for less than 5 ohms between the test points: Coax Cable Outer Shield &
The other end of the circuit - Coax Cable Outer Shield
- If 5 ohms or greater
  Replace the component: Coax Cable
- Go to next step: If less than 5 ohms
Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Coax Cable Center & Coax Cable Outer Shield
- If less than infinite resistance
Replace the component: Coax Cable
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
All OK.
