Component Testing

CAUTION:

Refer to Test Probe Caution .

NOTE:

To prevent an incorrect reading when testing the center coax terminal, use care not to ground the test probe on the outer housing/shield.

Coax Cable - Test

  1. Verify the condition does not exist:
    • Damaged component: Coax Cable
    • Poor component electrical connections: Coax Cable
  2. Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
  3. Test for less than 5 ohms between the test points: Coax Cable Center & The other end of the circuit - Coax Cable Center
    • If 5 ohms or greater 

      Replace the component: Coax Cable

    • Go to next step: If less than 5 ohms 
  4. Test for less than 5 ohms between the test points: Coax Cable Outer Shield &

    The other end of the circuit - Coax Cable Outer Shield

    • If 5 ohms or greater 

      Replace the component: Coax Cable

    • Go to next step: If less than 5 ohms 
  5. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Coax Cable Center & Coax Cable Outer Shield
    • If less than infinite resistance 
  6. Replace the component: Coax Cable
    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance 
  7. All OK.
