Removal Procedure
Ensure all High Voltage safety procedures are followed. Failure to follow the procedure exactly as written may result in serious injury or death.
- Relieve the fuel pressure: Fuel Pressure Relief
- Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection - Disconnect
- Fuel Tank Draining
- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Underbody Rear Air Deflector Replacement - Remove
- Underbody Front Air Deflector Replacement - Left Side - Remove
Evaporative Emission Rear Hose (1) - Disconnect- Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
- Close all open connections with the EN-6015 plugs.
- Disconnect the fuel tank fuel pump module wiring harness electrical connector (2).
- Open the retainer (6).
- Fuel Tank Filler Vent Pipe (3) - Disconnect- Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
- Close all open connections with the EN-6015 plugs.
- Clamp (5) - Loosen
Fuel Tank Filler Pipe Ground Bolt (1) - Remove
Fuel Tank Filler Hose (4) - Remove
Fuel Feed Pipe (1) - Disconnect- Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
- Close all open connections with the EN-6015 plugs.
- Remove rear coil springs. Refer to Rear Coil Spring Replacement
Reinstall the lower shock fasteners (2) to the shock (1) without the coil springs.
- Support the rear axle with a suitable jack stand.
Remove and DISCARD the 3 right side axle bracket bolts (1).
Loosen the 3 left side axle bracket bolts (1). Do not remove the bolts at this time.
Lower the front (1) of the axle and position rearward enough to allow the fuel tank to be removed.
Support the fuel tank with a suitable jack. (3)
- Remove the 4 fuel tank strap bolts (2, 4).
- Fuel Tank Strap (1) - Remove [2x]
- NOTE:
A second technician is required.
Move the fuel tank (1) rearwards until there is enough space between the fuel tank (1) and the fuel tank strap bracket (2).
- Lower the fuel tank (1) slowly using the suitable adjustable jack (3).
