Installation Procedure

  1. GM4091536Courtesy of GENERAL MOTORS COMPANY

    Install a NEW gasket. (1, 2) [2x]

  2. Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler (4) - Install
    3. NOTE:

    Do NOT tighten.

  3. Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler Bolt (3) - Install [2x]

    NOTE:

    Do NOT tighten.

    Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler Bolt (3)@Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler (1) - Install [2x]

    5. CAUTION:

    Fastener Caution

  5. Install the exhaust gas recirculation temperature sensor - position 2 (2) and tighten to 42 N.m (31 lb ft).

    NOTE:

    Do NOT tighten.

    Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler Bolt (2) - Install [2x]

  7. Install the exhaust gas recirculation temperature sensor - position 1 (1) to the exhaust gas recirculation cooler (3) and tighten to 42 N.m (31 lb ft).
  8. Tighten all 6 exhaust gas recirculation cooler bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in)

    Thermostat Bypass Hose (2) - Connect

  10. Thermostat Bypass Hose Clamp (1) - Tighten

    Heater Inlet Hose (2)@Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler (1) - Connect

  12. Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler Water Bypass Outlet Hose (4)@Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler (1) - Connect
  13. Clamp (3) - Tighten [2x]
  14. Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement - Install
  15. Fill the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling
