Removal Procedure

  1. Intake Manifold Cover - Remove - Intake Manifold Cover Replacement
  2. Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose - Remove - Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose Replacement 
  3. Power Brake Booster Vacuum Hose @ Vacuum Pump - Disconnect - Power Brake Booster Vacuum Hose Replacement (LTG)
  4. GM4846963

    Remove the engine wiring harness clips (1) from the vacuum pump.

  5. Disconnect and reposition the engine wiring harness (2) as necessary.
  6. Radiator Inlet Hose @ Water Outlet - Remove - Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LTG)
  7. GM4846965

    Remove the vacuum pump bolts (1, 2).

  8. GM4790964

    Remove the vacuum pump (1).

  9. Remove the vacuum pump gasket (2).

    The gasket is reusable, inspect the gasket and replace if damaged.

  10. Inspect the vacuum pump seal (3) and replace if necessary. Camshaft Cover and Compressor Air Intake Turbocharger Cleaning and Inspection

    If replacing the vacuum pump, turn the NEW vacuum pump shaft (1) to match the position of the OLD vacuum pump shaft, This will allow proper alignment of the vacuum pump shaft with the engine camshaft.
