Fuel Tank Draining
WARNING:
Never drain or store fuel in an open container. Always use an approved fuel storage container in order to reduce the chance of fire or explosion.
WARNING:
Place a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby before performing any on-vehicle service procedures. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury.
CAUTION:
When performing a fuel tank draining procedure on a capless fuel system, only use the capless adapter funnel or equivalent. Using something other than the capless adapter funnel or equivalent may cause damage to the capless fuel system.
- Insert the capless adapter funnel or equivalent into the capless fill pipe.
- NOTE:
Lubricate the fuel drain hose with Transjel Lubricant or equivalent to aid in hose insertion.
Insert the a suitable suction hose into the fuel tank until the bottom is reached.
- Attach a suitable suction hose to the hose used with the hand or air operated pump device.
- Use a hand or air operated pump device in order to drain as much fuel through the fuel fill pipe as possible.
