Installation Procedure

  1. Position the steering column (3) in the vehicle.
  2. Start the steering column nuts (1) but do NOT tighten.
  3. Start the steering column bolts (2) but do NOT tighten.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  4. Steering Column Nut (2) - Tighten in sequence (Qty: 2) 27 N.m (20 lb ft)
  5. Steering Column Bolt (2) - Tighten in sequence (Qty: 2) 27 N.m (20 lb ft)

  6. Connect the steering column wiring harness connector (4) to the vehicle body wiring harness on top of the body control module bracket.

    Ensure the cam lock on the connector is secured completely.

  7. Secure the steering wheel airbag wiring harness connector (3) on the plastic retainer on the body control module bracket and connect the vehicle body wiring harness connector (2).
  8. Connect the steering column wiring harness connector (1) to the body control module.
  9. Connect the range selector lever cable to the steering column. Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement
  10. If equipped, connect the automatic transmission shift lock control actuator. Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Control Actuator Replacement
  11. Connect the upper intermediate steering shaft to the steering column. Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement

  12. Install the instrument panel knee bolster deflector (2) and nuts (1) and tighten the nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
  13. Floor Front Air Outlet Duct - Left Side - Install - Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Left Side
  14. Instrument Panel Knee Bolster - Install - Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Replacement
  15. Steering Column Shroud - Install - Steering Column Shroud Replacement (Manual Tilt) Steering Column Shroud Replacement (Manual Tilt and Telescope) 
  16. Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling
  17. Relearn the steering angle sensor. Steering Wheel Angle Sensor Centering
