Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- NOTE:
Do not bend the cable sharply at the base of either the sensing unit or sensor ECU in the final mounting position.
Nitrogen Oxides Sensor(2) - Remove
Turbocharger Heat Shield Bolt(1) - Remove[4x]
- Turbocharger Heat Shield Nut(3) - Remove
- Turbocharger Heat Shield(2) - Remove
Catalytic Converter Heat Shield Bolt(1) - Remove[2x]
Catalytic Converter Clamp(1) - Remove and DISCARD
Exhaust Temperature Sensor(1) - Remove[2x]
- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Front Compartment Insulator - Remove - Front Compartment Insulator Replacement
Clamp(1) - Loosen[2x]
- Remove the 2 exhaust pressure differential sensor hoses (2) from the exhaust pressure differential sensor pipes (3).
Catalytic Converter Heat Shield Bolt(1) - Remove[2x]
- CAUTION:
Do not bend the exhaust flex pipe more than 10 degrees in any direction. Bending of more than 10 degrees or twisting in a range of ±0.5 degrees will damage the exhaust flex decoupler.
Exhaust Front Pipe Nut(4) - Remove[3x]
- Exhaust Front Pipe(1)@Catalytic Converter(2) - Remove
- Exhaust Front Pipe Gasket(3) - Remove and DISCARD
Catalytic Converter Heat Shield(1) - Remove
- Transmission Mount Strut Bracket - Remove
- On vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission:Transmission Mount Strut Bracket Replacement
- On vehicles equipped with a manual transmission:Transmission Mount Strut Bracket Replacement (1.6L Diesel LH7)Transmission Mount Strut Bracket Replacement (1.4L LE2)
Catalytic Converter Brace Nut(1) - Remove[2x]
- Catalytic Converter Stud(2) - Remove[2x]
- NOTE:
A second technician is required.
Unsupport the powertrain unit (1) and push the powertrain unit (1) against driving direction to get access for the catalytic converter removal.
Catalytic Converter(3) - Remove
- Release and support the powertrain unit.
- Remove and DISCARD the gasket.(2)
Mind the different hose diameters.
