Removal Procedure

WARNING:

Refer to Exhaust Service Warning .

WARNING:

Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Warning .

  1. Raise and properly support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the floor panel tunnel panel reinforcement. Refer to Floor Panel Tunnel Panel Reinforcement Replacement .
  3. Install a jack stand under the intermediate pipe.
  4. GM3356901

    Loosen the exhaust muffler band clamps (1).

  5. GM3356917

    Remove the intermediate pipe-to-catalytic converter pipe fasteners (1) and DISCARD the exhaust pipe seals.

  6. GM3356984

    Remove the fasteners (1) securing the intermediate pipe hanger (2) to the vehicle.

  7. Separate the intermediate pipe (3) from the exhaust mufflers.
  8. Lower the jack stand with the intermediate pipe.
  9. If replacing the intermediate pipe, remove the hanger bracket assembly and transfer to new part.
