Installation Procedure
- Install Steering Column Nut and tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb ft)
- Install Intermediate Steering Shaft at Steering Column - Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement
- Connect the steering column electrical connectors.
- Remove Floor Air Outlet Duct - Left - Floor Air Outlet Duct Replacement - Left Side
- Install Driver Knee Bolster - Driver Knee Bolster Replacement (Acadia)Driver Knee Bolster Replacement (Enclave)Driver Knee Bolster Replacement (Traverse)
- Install Steering Column Lower Trim Cover - Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Replacement (N37) Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Replacement (N38)
- If battery was disconnected for steering column install, reconnect battery and wait for all modules to fall asleep. This can be done by closing all vehicle closures (doors, trunk, hood) and waiting for three minutes without actuating any vehicle functions or pushing any buttons.
- Perform functionality check of tilt and telescoping features.
- Install Steering Wheel - Steering Wheel Replacement
- Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling
- Center the steering angle sensor. Steering Wheel Angle Sensor Centering

Refer to Fastener Caution .
CAUTION:
The anti-rotation pin must be removed from the steering column before installing the steering wheel. Ensure that the steering wheel bolt is torqued to specification during steering wheel installation. Over torquing the steering wheel bolt can result in damage to the steering column rivets which will disable the telescoping mechanism. If the steering column rivets are damaged, a new steering column must be installed.
