Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Remove the engine control module (S53) from the battery tray. Refer to Engine Control Module Replacement
  3. Open the battery positive cable terminal cover (2).

  4. Remove the engine wiring harness junction block cover (1).
  5. Disconnect the body wiring harness connectors (1) and remove the body wiring harness (2) from the battery positive cable junction block.

  6. Loosen the battery positive cable junction block post nut (1).

  7. Remove the engine wiring harness junction block nut (2).
  8. Remove the battery positive cable (3) from the battery and the engine wiring harness junction block.
  9. Remove the battery positive cable retainers (1) and remove the battery positive cable (2) from the battery tray.

  10. Remove the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement .
  11. Remove the battery negative and positive ground nut (1) and remove the battery positive cable (2) from the frame stud ground.

  12. Remove the battery positive cable nut (1) from the starter solenoid.

  13. Remove the battery positive cable ground bolt (4).
  14. Remove the protective cover (3) at the back of the generator.
  15. Remove the generator B (+) nut (2) from the generator B+ Stud.
  16. Remove the battery positive cable (5).
