Removal Procedure

WARNING:

Refer to Brake Dust Warning .

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (6-Lug Wheel)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (8-Lug Wheel)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Dual Rear Wheels) .
  3. Disconnect the rear wheel speed sensor electrical connector and release the retainer (1) from the frame rail.

  5. Release the rear wheel speed sensor harness retainers (1) from the frame and rear axle.

  7. Clean the rear wheel speed sensor area on the rear axle of any accumulated dirt and debris.
  8. NOTE:

    If replacing the right rear wheel speed sensor, it may be necessary to carefully reposition the rear brake hose bracket to improve access to the wheel speed sensor and bolt.

  9. Remove the rear wheel speed sensor bolt (1).
  10. Remove the rear wheel speed sensor assembly from the rear axle by pulling straight out.
